Standing water next to a house is one of those problems that homeowners tend to put off. It looks like a minor annoyance until it isn't. Water sitting against a foundation, pooling in low spots, turning your backyard into a soggy mess after every rain - that's a problem that compounds over time. This job was a chance to fix it the right way.
We came in and regraded the ground behind the house to redirect water flow away from the structure. The soil was worked down, leveled, and prepped so that when it rains, water moves where it should - away from the house and off the property. No more pooling, no more mud collecting right against the siding and foundation. The site prep work is what makes everything else hold up long term.
Once the grading was dialed in, we seeded the area and laid straw to protect the seed bed and lock in moisture while things get established. That's a detail that matters. Without that protective layer, seed washes away or dries out before it ever has a chance to root.
Beyond the drainage work, we also installed a row of privacy trees along the back of the property. Good privacy planting does double duty - it screens the yard from neighbors and adds a natural buffer that improves the look and feel of the whole space. Paired with the drainage correction, this backyard went from a problem area to something the homeowner can actually use and enjoy.
Good landscaping isn't just about looks. It's about solving real problems and protecting what you've invested in your property. Drainage and privacy are two of the most common issues we hear about, and both are very fixable with the right approach.
